Darkness Covered the Earth - Genesis 1:2

Genesis 1:2 -- “The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.”
Can you imagine that everything you see before you, your house, your family, your city, your country, even the entire world at one time did not exist. That is a hard thought to wrap you mind around. But it is true. The Bible tells us that the earth was "formless and empty" and completely covered in darkness.

And there was God. He was in the darkness, but not of the darkness. There was no darkness in Him. Instead He hovered over these dark surfaces and saw potential. These surroundings did not have to stay in darkness. God could bring them into the light.

When things go wrong and we feel the darkness falling in on us, we tend to feel very alone, even if there are others around us. However, God was already there. God was there when there was nothing but darkness. Even when we feel surrounded by darkness, we are not alone. God is with us ready and waiting to show us the light. To show us His love.

This world, once covered with darkness, has evolved by God's hand into a magnificent masterpiece of life. Even though it was God who created us, many chose not to follow Him and do what was right in their own eyes. Because of these sins, God sent His Son to die for the people He loves. Jesus was the second light that God called into the world. All we have to do is call out to Him and He will come and bring light into even the darkest corners of our lives.
